Local Communities
We contribute to the development of the community by not only making charitable donations to initiatives relating to financial literacy and money advice, but also by providing opportunities for colleagues to support the development of the communities in which they live and work.
Volunteering
As well as financial support, HBOS plc also encourages colleagues to volunteer their time and professional skills to help tackle financial exclusion. In 2006 over 7,300 HBOS colleagues volunteered their time to various worthy causes, including financial inclusion.
Examples of projects that colleagues are involved in include:
- Personal Finance in Schools: Integrating personal financial capability and enterprise into the curriculum - to enrich learning for pupils in schools in Bristol.
- 'Number Partners': Working with local primary schools to help pupils improve their numeracy skills.
- Financial Education Partnership: Providing financial education to young people across Scotland by providing facilitators to run workshops in secondary schools.
