HBOS's award-winning programme of sponsorship invests over £4 million in sport and the arts in Scotland and Yorkshire each year. Our aim.. To make a real difference to young people, our customers and our colleagues, in the communities where they live and work.
We believe sponsorship should be about more than simply handing over a cheque. Our close involvement with partners means we understand their unique needs and ambitions. So, while our athletics sponsorship is aimed at young athletes with outstanding potential, our support for grassroots football is about introducing the game to thousands of school children.
During 2006, HBOS helped over 70,000 young people take part in sport and arts activities who might not otherwise have done so.
Working closely with our partners, we also help deliver a variety of events to large audiences, such as the 250,000 people who attend the annual Bank of Scotland Fireworks Concert, or the 25,000 who take part in schools football competitions each year.

Although we are committed to many things within sport and the arts, we are unable to support every sponsorship opportunity. The following list provides an indication of the types of projects and events we are unlikely to be able to support:
- Individuals, individual clubs, teams or societies
- Fundraising events for charities
- Religious or political activity
- Individual venues, buildings or refurbishment programmes
- Activity or projects which take place overseas
- Publications, videos, films, recordings or website development
